Footnotes
REEF RUNNER came in to bother rivals shortly after the start, chased outside a rival out of range, bumped between runners and got boxed in outside the quarter pole, cut to the inside entering the stretch, rallied along the fence, took over in deep stretch and was able to hold on. MOTORIOUS (GB) got put in tight and shuffled back to last early, raced between rivals into the turn at the rear, swung out leaving the turn, rallied down the middle of the track and surged late only to miss at the wire. BEYOND BRILLIANT saved ground near the back of the pack, hugged the rail to the stretch, closed well from inside and gained third. NO NAY HUDSON (IRE) stalked from inside, crept closer around the turn, challenged in midstretch but lacked the needed late kick. BOOK SMART sprinted clear and set the tone early, led along the inside to the stretch, remained clear to the eighth pole, challenged on both sides and clung to a short lead with a sixteenth remaining and yielded late. QUEEN MAXIMA got crowded and forced into inner rival early, chased four deep off the pace to the turn, remained wide to the stretch, tipped out further at the top of the lane and showed late effort. SORRENTO SKY (IRE) chased between rivals in the early going, lost some ground in the two path on the turn, moved out in upper stretch and kept trying through the final furlong. SUMTER brushed with outer rival early, chased three deep between from off the pace, bumped midway around the bend still in the three path, kept on down the lane but needed to find more. BOSS SULLY coaxed along early from off the pace and moved inside, tipped out at the top of the lane and lacked a rally. VIRAT chased outside a pair of rivals, three then two wide on the turn, moved back out and took aim in upper stretch but flattened out in the late stages. FIRST PEACE brushed early with inner rival, traveled three deep at the back of the field into the turn, got carried wide leaving the bend and was never a factor. WOUND UP tracked the speed outside a trio of rivals, remained wide to the stretch and faded through the lane. THERE WAS A STEWARDS' INQUIRY INVOLVING REEF RUNNER AND MOTORIOUS (GB) EARLY IN THE RACE. FOLLOWING A REVIEW, THE STEWARDS DISQUALIFIED REEF RUNNER FROM FIRST TO SECOND FOR CROSSING OVER AND FORCING QUEEN MAXIMA INTO THE PATH OF MOTORIOUS (GB) WHICH COST MOTORIOUS A CHANCE AT A BETTER PLACING.
