HIGHPLAINSDRIFTER stalked keenly in hand from off the rail, tugged along on the backstretch, chased between then moved three wide into the clear on the far turn, steered out further in the lane, put in a grinding rally from outside in the final furlong and got up in time. SHAPOVAL pressed between rivals then outside the leader in the early going, took over midway around the far turn, kicked clear in upper stretch, showed the way into the final sixteenth, came under threat from the winner late and got nailed at the wire. ISLAND PARADISE settled off the pace two wide then along the rail, saved ground on the second turn while urging along, chased within range between rivals at the eighth pole and gained the show honors. FIGHT BACK broke a step slow on the far outside, angled in and raced outside a rival at the back early, drew a bit closer between runners on the backstretch, summoned a mild rally and gained ground while rounding out the superfecta. GRANDISIMO angled to the inside racing at the back, trailed into the far turn, continued on the fence around the bend, steered out in the lane and closed belatedly. P TOWN PRANCER showed the way in-hand while under pressure to the far turn, lost command midway around the bend, yielded to the new leader in upper stretch and weakened. WATER TIGER got squeezed shortly after the start, started to pull and became rank early, continued to be a handful three wide on the first turn, moved into the two path late on the second bend, lacked the needed response in the drive, unsaddle on the backstretch and was transported off the track via equine ambulance. GOLDEN SURPRISE stalked from inside, came under a ride and tipped two wide on the far turn, moved out then shifted back inward in upper stretch and weakened. CRIME LORD raced up close outside a pair of rivals, weakened three then four wide on the far turn, eased in the lane, unsaddled on the backstretch and was transported off the track via equine ambulance.
