Footnotes
TOPPERS AT SEASIDE grabbed the early lead and moved inside, took pressure from NOBEL GARY on the backstretch, moved clear into the far turn, showed the way into the final furlong, met bids from a pair of rivals in the final furlong and gamely prevailed. CITY OF ANGELS stalked along the rail, had to wait when boxed in behind the leader and inside NOBEL GARY on the far turn, tipped out into the clear at the top of the lane, bid between rivals in the furlong grounds and could not get by the winner while edging NOBEL GARY for the place honors. NOBEL GARY was closest in pursuit from the two path early, applied pressure to the leader in the middle stages, failed to keep up but remained close in the two path on the far turn, driven three wide into the lane, challenged three deep down the stretch but lacked the needed final kick. GENTLEMEN'S CLUB raced along the inside then drifted out a bit around the first turn, chased between rivals up the backstretch, came under a ride two to three wide on the far turn and weakened in the lane. KAMAINA CRUISER tracked two wide around the first turn then pulled the rider along into the backstretch, angled inward, chased inside a pair of rivals into the far turn and weakened down the lane. NAISMITH threw his head at the start and came away very slow, trailed near the inside around the first turn, steered out into the backstretch, traveled three deep into the far turn, entered the lane in the four path and came up empty. THE STEWARDS REVIEWED THE START OF NAISMITH AND UNANIMOUSLY RULED THAT HE CAUSED HIS OWN PROBLEMS AT THE START BY THROWING HIS HEAD RIGHT BEFORE THE GATES OPENED AND IS CONSIDERED A STARTER.
