NIMAH vied inside a pair of rivals for a bit then cleared at the half-mile pole, met the bid from MISS WATERMELON at the three-eighths pole, shook free again at the top of the lane and was kept busy to the wire. MISS WATERMELON broke a step slow, raced up close four deep, chased three deep leaving the backstretch, bid outside NIMAH around the bend, lost touch with that rival into the lane, stayed on well through the stretch and was clearly second best. ETHEREAL QUALITY was off slow to begin, trailed up the backstretch, advanced four wide on the turn and edged HEAVENLY PRINCESS for third. HEAVENLY PRINCESS vied three deep briefly then chased past the half-mile pole between rivals, lost ground two three wide on the turn and got edged for third. GETTING CLOSER was off slow to begin, chased inside a rival leaving the backstretch, bumped with rivals on both sides past the five-sixteenths pole, moved to the inside and could not rally down the lane. LERIOS tracked three deep then outside a rival on the backstretch, bumped three deep past the five-sixteenths pole, went two wide into the lane and weakened. DARLIN' DUCHESS bobbled a bit leaving the gate, chased from off the pace on the inside, shifted out approaching the quarter and was never a factor. MY GIRL MIA vied between rivals briefly then chased inside rivals up the backstretch, got bumped and checked past the five-sixteenths pole, eased in the lane and walked off. THERE WAS AN INQUIRY INVOLVING THE GETTING CLOSER, MY GIRL MIA AND LERIOS ON THE TURN. FOLLOWLING A REVIEW, THE STEWARDS RULED IN A MAJORITY DECISION TO DISQUALIFY GETTING CLOSER FROM FIFTH TO LAST FOR IMPEDING MY GIRL MIA, COSTING HER A CHANCE AT A BETTER PLACING.
