Footnotes
SEA DOG stalked along the inside then tipped to the two path and went up to press the leader late on the first turn, fought on even terms around the far turn, inched ahead in upper stretch, drifted out and brushed CONTRARY CHIEFTAIN at the sixteenth pole and maintained a short advantage to the wire. CONTRARY CHIEFTAIN stumbled leaving the gate, tracked from the two path then along the rail into the backstretch, bid chased from the rail then in the two path again on the far turn, bid three deep at the eighth pole, took light contact from SEA DOG at the sixteenth pole and could not get by. NORTHERN QUEST stalked two then three wide on the first turn, followed outside a rival up the backstretch, challenged three deep on the far turn, could not keep up with the top pair turning for home, flattened in the late stages but was able to keep the show honors. MOTHER'S PRAYER showed early speed outside MY BUCKET LIST then inherited the lead when that rival bore out on the first turn, dove down to the inside, set a pressure pace to the far turn, fought head to head around that bend, yielded midstretch and weakened in the late stages. SYDNEY STREET (GB) settled in the three path, raced outside rivals then off the rail in the middle stages, rounded the far turn four then three wide and weakened down the lane. MY BUCKET LIST quickly took control then lugged out badly on the first turn, lagged behind to the stretch and never got involved after the early trouble. THERE WAS AN INQUIRY INVOLVING THE STRETCH RUN BETWEEN THE TOP TWO FINISHERS. FOLLOWING A REVIEW, THE STEWARDS UNANIMOUSLY RULED THAT SEA DOG DID DRIFT OUT AND BRUSH WITH CONTRARY CHIEFTAIN AT THE SIXTEENTH POLE BUT THE LIGHT CONTACT DID NOT WARRANT A DISQUALIFICATION.
