Footnotes
SIR HANSEN tracked the pace closely early, saved ground just off the leaders through the first half, remained within striking distance while patiently handled on the turn, rallied when set down in upper stretch, closed ground willingly, and dead-heated for the win in a blanket finish. GOOD TO BE KING showed good early speed to lead into the first turn, ceded the front down the backstretch to stalk BAYTOWN DA VINCI, engaged that rival nearing the three-furlong pole, regained the lead entering the stretch, was immediately bumped by the surging FERROUS in upper stretch, fought back gamely, and dead-heated for the win at the wire. FERROUS settled two or three wide early, made an eye-catching move through the far turn to bid for the lead approaching the stretch, ducked in and made contact with the inside rival in upper stretch, kept on well but was outfinished by the top pair in a tight finish. SMOKE TRAIL settled in mid-pack, kept to the inside path through the far turn, then tipped out to the three-path for the stretch run and was mildly gaining while no threat to the trio up front. BAYTOWN DA VINCI was hustled from the break to get forward position, got caught four-wide through the clubhouse turn, then moved up to take a clear lead turning onto the backstretch, led the way into the far turn, came under a ride under threat near the quarter pole, and gave way readily. BEST SCREENPLAY was initially up with the leaders, backed off to a tracking position turning onto the backstretch, started to have trouble keeping up with the pace on the far turn, and steadily retreated. WARFORK reserved near the back through the first half-mile, then lacked a rally. LOST IN THE FIGHT was placed in mid-pack between rivals through the early stages, then did not respond when asked on the far turn. CAMPING SIETE devoid of early speed, trailed far back, and was never a threat.
