Footnotes
COLONEL CALIENTE prompted four to three wide, vied three deep into and around the turn, drew clear at the quarter pole and held sway under a drive. VALIANT HUMOR was put to subtly tight quarters between horses nearing the backstretch, brushed with an outer rival while tugging closer at the five furlong pole, laid back and stalked the top trio from the three path around the turn, bid for place as the leader kicked away at the quarter pole, sparred with an inner rival for that position leaving the furlong grounds and edged ahead. MIDNIGHT VENGEANCE vied two wide and between horses, proved no match for his outer counterpart at the quarter pole, battled for place with an outer bidder into the final sixteenth but got bested. BECK'S DREAMER led narrowly along the inside, got headed by a pair of outer prompters at the half mile pole, sustained position and vied inside of that pair around the turn, but proved no match for his widest counterpart at the quarter pole and yielded through the final furlong. HEROIC ACT broke a step slow and steadied back at the start, raced off of the pace in the four path around the turn and failed to menace. MAGNIFICENT RAGS bobbled slightly at the start, trailed near the inside and failed to factor. SAINT SHANCE raced forwardly in the three path, brushed with an inner rival while in pursuit nearing the five furlong pole, chased in the two path into and around the turn but tired.
