Footnotes
PURPLE HEART rated nicely off of the early pace, was well placed while inside of runners heading into the turn, chased from the inside into upper stretch, shifted to the two path into the final furlong and vied for the lead between rivals into the final sixteenth, determinedly battled in deep stretch and got up in the final yards to prevail. MATINEE IDOL allowed to settle in the early stages, raced in traffic along the turn then found a seam while three wide to upper stretch, rallied into the final furlong then vied for the lead into the final sixteenth, fought gamely to the wire and just missed for the win, while besting the rest. WIZARD OF YESTER showed early speed and assumed command away from the start, set the pace from the inside into the turn, was pressed to the quarter pole then turned away IL CAVALLINO into upper stretch, led to the furlong pole then was all out past mid-stretch, yielded to the top pair in the final sixteenth and was clear of the rest for third. IL CAVALLINO raced close up to the early pace, stalked to the turn then pressed the pace two wide to the quarter marker, was turned away in upper stretch and weakened in the drive. BONAFIDE allowed to settle early on and trailed to the turn, swung two to three wide to upper stretch then angled to the rail and passed tiring rivals in the late stages. EXPRESS LINE allowed to settle in the early stages, coaxed five wide to upper stretch and lacked a late response. WESTEROS tracked the early pace from outside of rivals, ran in pursuit three wide into the turn, spun four wide to upper stretch and chased nearing the furlong marker, could not find more in the lane and came up empty late.
