Footnotes
MERONEY broke sharply to assume command, came under pressure from THE WICKED CAT in the turn, drew clear in the stretch. THE WICKED CAT brushed outside foe at the start, shadowed the pace from the inside up the backstretch, shifted out to press the pace through the turn, no match for the winner down the stretch, held for the place honors. HESPER brushed with outside foe at the start, settled off the pace, tipped out four wide shortly after the start, improved for the show award in the upper stretch but just missed out on the place award late. CHARLES BODIE tracked the pace three wide, lost some ground entering the stretch, flattened out in the final furlong. CLASSICAL KNIGHT brushed with inside foe at the start, steadily advanced along the inside to enter the stretch just behind the pace but retreated soon after. SARAH'S RUNNER brushed by inside foe at the start, trailed throughout, no factor.
