FOR FOUR YEAR OLDS AND UPWARD. By subscription of $500 by Saturday, March 7. $2,500 to enter, $2,500 additional to start. Supplemental nominations of $10,000 will be accepted at time of entry which shall include all fees. $500,000 Guaranteed of which 60% to the winner, 20% to second, 10% to third, 4% to fourth, 2% to fifth and 1% to finishers sixth through ninth. Weight: 124 lbs. Non-winners of a Grade I or Grade II sweepstakes at a mile or over since December 21, allowed 2 lbs., Non-winners of a swee pstakes at a mile or over since September 21, allowed 4 lbs. Non-winners of $85,000 at a mile or over since then allowed 6 lbs. Starters to be named through the entry box by the usual time of closing. The New Orleans Classic Presented by Hagyard will be l imited to fourteen (14) starters. Preference will be given in the following manner: graded or group winners in order (I, II, III), then highest lifetime earnings. Any horse excluded from running because of the aforementioned preference shall be refundedt he entry fee or supplementary fee if applicable. A trophy will be presented to the winning owner. TOUCHUPONASTAR came away in good order, controlled the pace off of the inside to the first turn, inched clear and dropped to the rail to dictate terms, met the challenge of LIFE AND TIMES on the second turn, shook off that one entering the stretch, widened the lead in the upper stretch, then dug in to preserve a diminishing advantage. CORPORATE POWER tucked in to save ground, creeped into striking distance through the second turn, angled out inside the quarter pole to be clear, kicked on well but was unable to bridge the gap. LIFE AND TIMES staked the pace in hand three deep, moved up to engage TOUCHUPONASTAR midway through the second turn, was unable to go on with that one entering the stretch, weakened further and settled for the minor award. NOT THIS BOY was unhurried into stride, settled toward the tail of the field four wide, and lacked a response when called upon. WESTWOOD prompted the pace along the inside to the first turn, shifted out and continued to hound the leader from his outside down the backstretch, but came up empty between rivals and on the second turn and dropped out.
