Footnotes
URBAN LEGEND broke alertly, vied for the early lead along the inside, showed good speed to the turn and set a disputed pace to the quarter marker, led to upper stretch then drifted out and bothered a foe at the furlong marker, corrected and kept to task into the final sixteenth and held safely for the win. THIRTY POUND TEST off a step slowly, settled off of the early pace while never far back, saved ground into the turn then angled three wide at the quarter pole, bid to upper stretch, was bothered then checked at the furlong pole, fought on to the final sixteenth, could not reel in the winner late and was a clear second. CARCONE vied for the early lead from between foes, pressed the solid pace into the turn, repelled to upper stretch then chased from the inside nearing the furlong grounds, was outkicked in the final sixteenth but was well clear of the rest for third. ADIOS MATE caught a bit in tight between foes away from the start, settled off of the quick early pace, trailed into the turn, saved ground to upper stretch, no late response. SWEET INTERLUDE away in good order, vied for the early lead while three deep, stalked into the turn then lost ground nearing the quarter marker, could not find more into the stretch and tired. THERE WAS A STEWARDS' INQUIRY INTO THE STRETCH RUN OF THIS RACE. IN ADDITION, THE JOCKEY ON THIRTY POUND TEST LODGED AN OBJECTION AGAINST URBAN LEGEND, CLAIMING INTERFERENCE INTO UPPER STRETCH. THE STEWARDS DETERMINED URBAN LEGEND DRIFTED OUT IN UPPER STRETCH, IMPEDED THIRTY POUND TEST, AND COST THAT RIVAL THE OPPORTUNITY OF A BETTER PLACING. URBAN LEGEND WAS DISQUALIFIED FROM FIRST, AND PLACED SECOND.
