Footnotes
CAPTAIN EDDIE broke running toward the inside, set a pressured pace in the run up the backstretch and into the turn, shook clear in the two path entering the stretch, clear when straightened for home, fully extended to hold the runner up safe in the final strides. SURF'S UP broke with the leaders, raced forwardly and outside, raced four wide into and through the turn when moving closest to the winner, continued to pursue that one into the lane, set down, closing the gap quickly in the late going to miss. FAST FIXER void of speed outside, remained well out in the strip through the turn, came five wide for the drive, rallied and was up in time for the show, not a serious threat to the top pair. READIER pressed the winner from between foes for over three furlongs and began to weaken, continued to falter through the stretch after moving to the inside. SWEN broke with the field, settled off the pace and the inside, raced in the two path into the stretch, lacked a closing punch. BEAUTY BOLT void of speed, four wide trip through the turn, also lacked the necessary closing response. QUIZLER raced in mid pack and three wide, idled into the lane and went evenly to the wire. VALID SENSE lacked early foot off the inside, steered out around a rival to be four wide into the lane, another who was found lacking through the lane. SEAVER broke a bit slowly, trailed most of the way, never a factor. NEOPHYTE behind the lead pack early along the inside, began a steady retreat while saving ground before three furlongs.
