Footnotes
JUST A PHILLY forward and four wide out of the chute, fell back a bit off the first group after a quarter, began to pick it back up in the three path early turn, floated out to be five wide when challenging exiting the bend, vied through upper stretch then kicked well clear in the final sixteenth under steady handling. GOLDEN VALLEY a bit unruly soon after the start in some traffic, pressed early while three wide, dueled through the turn on the outside, floated out four wide while inside the winner entering the stretch, battled on to the furlong marker then proved no match while holding sway for the second spot. CALATHEA bobbled at the start to be away slow, moved up to contest the issue up front before leaving the chute, continued to vie between horses up the backstretch, dueled far turn, came out late in the bend to float the top pair out, gradually weakened to lose contact with that pair while remaining clear of the rest at the wire. GULLFAXI behind the leaders while toward the inside, saved ground and cut the corner into the lane to reach a striking position, failed to follow through in the final furlong in flattening out. PUCKERED raced back off the pace while out in the strip, lacked a closing bid. JUDGE JUDITH set or forced the pace along the inside four almost four furlongs and stopped, jogged in well back.
