Footnotes
DIMANCHE GRAS allowed to settle off the pace toward the inside, moved four wide for the second turn, called on for more run into the lane, rallied strongly out in the strip to prove clearly best. ESPERANZITO advanced four wide to within striking distance through the first turn, continued to stalk in the three path up the backstretch and into the far turn, remained forward and into the lane and rallied willingly to gain the place late while unable to match the winner in the waning strides. HILLBILLY BOB broke sharp from the middle of the gate, showed the way by daylight into and through the first turn, continued to set a comfortable pace, quickened in the final turn, continued to lead by daylight midstretch before faltering, saved the show. SWAMP FOX away in good order from the outside, forwardly placed into the first turn, raced closest to the leader the middle half, had little left late to lose a couple of positions. ANTONINO in mid pack while off the inside, asked along second turn, displayed a mild amount of late interest to improved position, no real threat. JIMBO BAILEY forwardly placed while three wide, remained within contact of the leader in the second turn when coming under a drive, then had little left for the stretch drive. SPONGE TIME last to leave, remained back while racing toward the inside, failed to muster a rally. ARAUCANO in the second flight while off the inside, fell back before a half and did not menace. MEGA DON fell back to trail after the start and was always outrun. NOT NOW NICK bobbled at the start, was never involved and trailed in.
