Footnotes
SURFER'S JOY closest to the leader out of the chute, advanced to briefly put a head in front halfway up the backstretch then allowed that rival to once again have the advantage, continued to chase that one into the turn, challenged three wide into the lane and wore the pacesetter down under steady handling to edge clear. SPIRIT OF THE LAW in the main body onto the main track inside, continued to save ground through the turn, challenged the inside displaced early pacesetter for the second spot past the furlong marker, prevailed over that one while unable to match the winner late. OPERA HOUSE A. D. broke running toward the inside, showed the way out of the chute, headed with five furlongs remaining, regained the advantage from along the inside, showed the way through the turn, responded when challenged from both sides midstretch and then gave ground somewhat grudgingly the final sixteenth. NOBLE PRINCE moved closer after a quarter out in the strip, raced forwardly and three wide through the turn, lacked a further response to finish up evenly in lacking a closing punch. TAPARINO broke out, was straightened to race back off the pace, came under a ride while toward the inside turn, cut the corner in the two path inside of several rivals turning into the stretch, went one paced to the wire to finish up evenly. LAST SHALL B FIRST void of any early foot, continued to lag far turn, swung out six wide turning into the stretch, improved a bit by picking off a couple of tiring rivals. MULLY'S MOON in mid pack outside, four wide through the turn, tired through the stretch. SPONGE TIME in the second flight while outside, also had little left for the stretch run.
