RUSTY PISTOL showed speed away from the start, assumed command and set a pressured pace into the turn, shook free to upper stretch and drew clear at the furlong grounds, kept to task to the final sixteenth then held over the oncoming runner-up. HOTTAKEJAKE tracked the early pace from the outside, bid three then four wide to upper stretch, closed willingly into the final sixteenth, could not reel in the winner into deep stretch and was second best. CINCO HARLEY disputed the early pace from outside of RUSTY PISTOL, pressed the pace to the quarter pole then was repelled into upper stretch, fought on into the final sixteenth, was outkicked for the place honors and held safely in the end for the show. TROOPS tracked the pace two wide and between runners, shifted out to upper stretch then could not muster the needed late response. LAST RUN tracked the early pace from the inside, well placed to the quarter marker, ran in pursuit to the furlong pole and lacked a late rally. CATALINA CREE bobbled at the start and was away a bit slowly, trailed into the turn and did not factor in the stretch drive.
