STAR OF THE BEAST allowed to settle along the backstretch while never far back, roused into the far turn, rallied five wide to upper stretch and responded well into the final furlong, vied for the lead into the final sixteenth, bested the game runner-up in deep stretch and held late for the win. BREEZER tracked the early pace four deep, chased to the quarter marker then ran in pursuit to upper stretch, bid at mid-stretch then vied for the lead into the final sixteenth, was outfinished for the win in the final strides and held for second. DON'T ANSWER had an awkward start and was off slowly, lacked early speed, advanced while widest nearing the quarter pole, swung five to six wide for the stretch drive, finished well in the late stages and got up in time for third. HOLLYWOOD MAYHEM broke out at the start and was off a step slowly, settled off of the early pace, advanced along the inside nearing the quarter marker, skimmed the rail to mid-stretch, needed more into the final sixteenth and offered a mild late rally. GALLANT KNIGHT broke sharply and showed good early speed, showed the way into the turn then led while off of the rail into upper stretch, held off foes to the furlong marker, was overtaken into the final sixteenth and gave way late. MACKOR chased the early pace three deep and from between rivals, ran in pursuit to mid-stretch, could not find the needed late response and was outkicked in deep stretch. ROSCOE PINE chased the early pace from the inside, was caught in tight approaching the turn, checked then lost position into the bend, ran on to upper stretch, swung three wide for the drive and could not muster a final response. WILD WEST JUSTICE chased the early pace two wide and between rivals, ran in pursuit from the inside approaching the top of the lane, could not keep pace into the final furlong and weakened late.
