Footnotes
VINO SANTO broke alertly and was sent for the early lead, carved out moderate fractions while well handled up the backstretch, was pressed to the quarter marker then held foes at bay into the stretch, kept to task to the final sixteenth and proved best in the late stages. VENEZUELAN HOPE settled two to three wide to the first turn, made a steady advance along the backstretch run then was roused five wide nearing the quarter marker, spun four wide for the stretch drive, finished well into the final sixteenth, could not reel in the winner in deep stretch and got up in time for second. MY FAVORITE TOPIC showed good speed away from the start, was prominent into the first turn then stalked the moderate pace up the backstretch, went up to press VINO SANTO into the far turn, was turned away into the stretch, chased the winner to the final sixteenth and was outfinished late for second, while clear of the rest for third. GET READY TO ROCK tracked the early pace three wide, well placed into the backstretch run, was outkicked to the quarter pole, could not find more into the stretch drive and flattened out in the lane. PAPA FUNNY off a step slow leaving the start, settled into the first turn, asked for run two to three wide nearing the quarter marker, swung widest for the stretch drive, could not muster the needed response in the stretch and passed tiring rivals late. KALINBA rated off of the early pace and tracked from the inside into the first turn, was well placed to the half-mile point, chased the pace to the quarter marker, lacked the needed response nearing the furlong grounds and weakened late. MUSTANG BAY lacked early speed and trailed to the half-mile point, saved ground to upper stretch and did not offer a late response. MY GREAT ILLUSION caught four to five wide into the first turn, settled off of the pace into the backstretch and tracked outside of rivals heading to the far turn, chased four wide to the quarter marker, was outrun to upper stretch then came up empty in the late stages. TITAN settled two to three wide and between runners into the first turn, tracked the moderate pace up the backstretch, chased two wide into the far turn, got caught a bit in tight and lost position nearing the quarter marker, could not keep pace into upper stretch then gave way in the drive. OCALA ROCKET settled off of the early pace, coaxed along two wide nearing the half-mile marker, lost action and was injured into the far turn, was pulled up while in distress and was euthanized on the track.
