K. C. CHIEF broke alertly and was sent for the early lead, showed the way along the first turn then was confronted into the backstretch, contested a quick pace from inside of a pair of rivals heading to the far turn, dueled to the quarter marker then shook free and dug in into the stretch, held off foes into the final sixteenth and lasted for the win over the oncoming runner-up. NATE THE GREAT settled into the first turn, unhurried up the backstretch, was roused five wide to the far turn, responded to mid-stretch, closed fast into the final sixteenth, could not reel in K. C. CHIEF in deep stretch but was able to get up in time for second. TIGRE settled away from the start, swung out and made a four wide move along the first turn, disputed the decent pace three deep along the backstretch, vied for the lead into the far turn then chased K. C. CHIEF into the stretch, fought on into the final sixteenth, was outfinished late and just held for third at the wire. NAVY CROSS settled just off of the early pace then was caught in tight while between runners into the first turn, tracked the decent pace between foes into the backstretch, ran in pursuit two wide heading to the quarter marker, chased into the stretch and battled to the final sixteenth, was gaining late but needed more in deep stretch and just missed for third. TICKING was forwardly placed into the first turn, tracked the pace three wide to the backstretch, ran in pursuit four wide to the quarter marker, chased the leaders to mid-stretch, battled to the final sixteenth and was outkicked in the late stages. LAS OLAS unhurried early on, saved ground to the second turn, waited for racing room nearing the quarter marker, shifted out into upper stretch and did not offer the needed late response. BAYTOWN PARFAIT forwardly placed away from the start, was keen and a bit hard to place into the first turn, settled into the backstretch, saved ground and was well placed to the far turn, chased from the inside to the quarter marker, could not muster the needed late response and yielded in deep stretch. SMART STRIKER took back off of the early pace, saved ground along the backstretch, was caught in traffic nearing the quarter marker, angled out for the stretch and lacked the needed late response. DOWNING STREET was off slowly and lacked early speed, trailed to the backstretch run, coaxed two to three wide to upper stretch, did not threaten late. BATTLE OF DOVER was prominent away from the start, contested the early pace into the backstretch, dueled between rivals while disputing a solid pace to the far turn, gave way nearing the quarter marker, was eased through the stretch and walked off.
