BIG BERNIE made the early lead under mild pressure from CARLEA'S DREAM to the far turn, yielded the lead near the quarter pole, but fought back in upper stretch, regained the upper hand, and held on to the wire under strong handling. CARLEA'S DREAM was restless in the gate, stalked BIG BERNIE to the far turn, bid for the lead late, and gained the advantage late on the far turn, but had no answer when that rival came back and had to settle for second. TI CAILLOU secured the rail and was held up near the back through the first turn, saved ground to the stretch, tipped out to the three path for the run home, was kept to steady urging through the stretch, and finished up well enough to gain the minor award. TAP THE DOT raced between horses in the second flight, was never far back but was not doing enough late to make an impact. KENTUCKY DAWN was away well, then content to track behind the leading pair, did not have much of a response when called upon midway on the far turn but kept on and was mildly gaining in the final yards. MACKINNON missed the break, then went four-wide into the first turn, tracked two-wide down the backstretch near the back of the pack, struggled to keep up on the far turn, lost ground and was not a factor in the stretch run.
