GRIND JIM allowed to settle in the early stages, roused at the three-eighths marker, bid three then four wide to upper stretch, rallied while on the left lead nearing the final sixteenth, took command in deep stretch and held safely at the wire for the win. CURLY'S ONE THING broke a step slowly, was sent to contest the early pace from between rivals, dueled from the inside into the turn, battled into upper stretch and took a narrow lead inside of the furlong pole, fought gamely to the final sixteenth, was outfinished in deep stretch and held safely late for second. FIFTYSHADESOFNAUTI hustled to contest the early pace, disputed the pace three wide along the backstretch, dueled outside of CURLY'S ONE THING into the turn then continued to battle that rival into upper stretch, yielded in the final sixteenth and held safely at the wire for third. ROMAN EAGLE rated off of the early pace, settled two wide to the turn, chased two wide to the quarter pole then ran in pursuit into the stretch, shifted to the rail and gained ground at the furlong pole, could not sustain his run to the final sixteenth and flattened out late. DRAMA KING was away in good order and vied for the early lead, took back along the backstretch run and saved ground into the turn, was well placed into the bend then lost ground nearing the quarter pole, lacked the needed response into upper stretch and weakened in the drive. CHARLIE DONT SURF broke a bit slowly then rushed up in the early going, chased the leading pair while saving ground into the turn, was well placed nearing the quarter pole, could not muster the needed response nearing mid-stretch and gave way in the final stages. HECKAMIGHTY settled outside of rivals in the early stages, was coaxed three to four wide to the quarter marker, lacked a response to upper stretch and did not threaten in the drive. HANK RIDGE settled off of the early pace, saved ground into the turn then was outrun to the quarter pole, lacked the needed response to upper stretch and did not factor in the drive.
