CHIEF LADY settled behind MIDSHIPMAN'S LADY early, letting that one set the pace, moved to challenge approaching the quarter pole, met little resistance, quickly went clear in mid-stretch, and went unchallenged to the wire. MISS TAPPY TONE settled three-wide at the rear of the pack, but never far back, was under a stiff drive on the turn, raced on the wrong lead through the stretch, but still managed to get up to claim the second prize while never a threat to the winner. LA MORENA settled between horses in the tracking group, then dropped to last position on the turn, but still in contention, tipped out three wide in the stretch, was never getting to the winner, then came up short in a spirited battle for the second spot. MIDSHIPMAN'S LADY broke best and was left to dictate a moderate pace through the early stages, gave way to CHIEF LADY before the stretch, tired and had little to offer in the late stages. AFFAIR tracked inside to the turn, lost ground, and trailed the field to the finish.
