Footnotes
TEAM GORMLEY broke well but settled back to let the pace scenario play out, tracked three-wide to the turn, launched a bid leaving the three-furlong pole, was under strong handling and urging, gradulally closed the gap on RING SEEKER on the lead, and just got up in the shadow of the wire. RING SEEKER broke on top then was content to cede the lead to HEZAKOOLKAT, stalked that one into the turn, then assumed the lead passing the three-furlong pole under confident handling, responded when set down at the top of the stretch, held clear under strong handling to deep stretch, but could not hold off the winner in the final jumps. VIETNAM VICTORY was a little rank leaving the gate and last in the initial stages, moved up the inside into contention before the turn, was under a ride through the turn to hold position, then finished up willingly but was not quite doing enough in the late stages and was out finished. BLING MOUNTAIN tracked four or five wide in the middle of the field, launched a bid from the five-sixteenths marker, loomed a big threat to mid-stretch, then flattened out a bit in the final furlong. SON OF A BLING was seven-wide down the backstretch, dropped to last position before the turn, chased the field through the stretch, and managed to pass a couple of tired rivals in the late stages. IBERIAN RUNNER raced at the back of the compact field and eight wide down the backstretch, angled to the rail for the turn, tried to rally under a stiff drive from before the three-furlong pole but was outkicked in the stretch. HEZAKOOLKAT made the lead before the five-furlong pole without really being asked, held a short lead into the turn, gave way readily with three furlongs to run, and went one-paced in the stretch with the rider not asking for much in the late stages.
