Footnotes
STEWBALL tracked close up in the two-path, was content with the tempo, then went to challenge near the quarter pole, engaged in a spirited sprint to the wire, got a head in front mid-stretch but the inside rival refused to go away, came back late and got a favorabe not at the wire to take the top prize. ARIES HONOR was sent to the lead, then was left alone to dictate pedestrian fractions, dug in gamely when confronted on the far turn, held the lead determinedly to deep stretch but lost the bob at the line. ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN tracked inside well behind the pace, bided time to the stretch, had a little trouble with the lead change, but finished up well but came up short. GOLD PRIZE raced two-wide at the back of the pack through the first half, waited for running room through the far turn, then tipped out to the five path in the stretch and rallied, but came up short for a minor award. DOWN THE ISLANDS settled inside mid-pack, made a mild bid up the rail in the stretch but was not quite doing enough in the final furlong. JUICY HANNA saved ground near the back, loomed a threat at the top of the stretch, but could not find the needed late kick. WITHERING GAZE settled near the back half of the field three-deep, then was unable to kick on with the rest in the stretch. GHURAIR'S WARRIOR was close up but always three to four wide, then was outkicked in the stretch.
