Footnotes
FETE tracked behind the pace battle, waited through the turn for running room, then responded when set down at the top of the stretch, battled gamely with CHASING THE RUSH through the stretch, then edged ahead in the final yards. CHASING THE RUSH broke best and had the lead for the initial furlong, ceded the front to a pair of rivals to the inside while settling in a stalking position, rebid for the lead three-wide approaching the quarter pole, had a short lead turning for home, then battled with FETE through the whole of the stretch, battled gamely but gave way in the final yards. SIX IRON got away well and vied between horses for the early lead, got a head in front near the five-sixteenths marker, kept on well but was outkicked by the top pair while saving third. SECRECY IS EVIL tracked four-wide behind the pace, launched a bid from the three-furlong pole, idled a bit in upper stretch, then ran on some in the final furlong but was too late to make an impact. WHEN SMOKEY SINGS broke well, vied inside in the early pace mix, weakened under a drive late on the turn, kept to task but was outfinished. FIRST CAPE chased throughout, finished evenly, and was unable to improve. MIDNIGHT HUNTER hit the front of the gate just as it opened, threw the head and hopped in the air, spotting the field a head start, then was unable to recover.
