Footnotes
CAUSE IM THE KING took advantage of the slow early pace to race just off the lead to the inside, took command approaching tseven-sixteenths marker and quickened the pace through the turn, brushed off a challenge by OKLAHOMA FLAME near the quarter pole, opened up under steady handling and intermittent urging to got a little short in the late stages and just held clear from a fast closing rival on the outside. GUS CAUSE raced in mid-pack down the backstretch, swung three-wide for the stretch run, was steadily gaining ground on the leader, but came up just short at the wire. DRAMA KING tracked three-wide in mid-pack, kept to task late to move up into the third position, while never a serious threat to the top two. OKLAHOMA FLAME broke best and attempted to slow the pace, ceded the lead to CAUSE IM THE KING heading into the turn, then came back on to bid for the lead at the quarter pole but could not go on with that one in upper stretch and weakened. LAST AFFAIR raced three-wide and close up to the early leaders, then slowed to a walk in the stretch and was eased to the finish. OTHERBROTHERDARYL was a little slow to begin, moved up closer to the front in the run down the backstretch, then had to be ridden to keep up as the pace quickened into the turn and was eased up and not persevered with when hopelessly behind and walked off. DOC HENRY RIDGE dropped back after a level start to race in last before the turn, was eased up, distanced and galloped out to the finish line, vetted, then transported back to the barn in the equine ambulance; was later reported to have bled.
