MY GOOD GOOD BOY was off a step slow but quickly into stride, stalked the early pace two-wide to the turn, bid for the lead approaching the quarter pole, dueled a stubborn TRESILLIAN into the stretch, then got the upper hand before the furlong pole, and held clear to the finish. DERBY DATE settled in the middle of the tightly packed field through the early stages, was without a path forward early on the turn, then finished up well under urging and moved up to claim the second prize. ROCKETS RED FLAIR pressed the pace three-wide, came under a stiff ride to keep up through the turn, was never getting to the top two, but kept to task while racing on the left lead and managed to pick up the minor award. TRESILLIAN hustled up after a tardy start, made the lead passing the five-furlong pole, held a slight lead through the turn, battled gamely into the stretch, but weakened in the final furlong. WORTH LOOKING veered out at the start, then settled in four-wide early, came four-wide into the stretch, and finished evenly under a drive but could not improve. MY WIFE IS RIGHT was the early trailer, then came five-wide into the stretch, dove down the rail and chased the field to the finish. COLONEL BARTON was last away, moved up into contention in the run down the backstretch, struggled to keep up on the turn, and had nothing to offer in the stretch.
