VICTORY FOR VETS broke alertly and vied for the early lead, contested the pace inside of GOLDEN GRIT along the backstretch run, dueled that rival into the turn and disputed the solid pace to the quarter marker, met oncoming bids to upper stretch and dug in into the final furlong, was unyielding to deep stretch and held for a determined win at the wire. RAISE THE BAR raced close up to the early pace while inside of rivals, angled three wide into the turn and stalked the leading pair nearing the quarter marker, bid three wide into the stretch, battled a pair of inner rivals into the final sixteenth, came in a bit to crowd GOLDEN GRIT in deep stretch and just missed for the win, while holding for the place. GOLDEN GRIT was prominent leaving the gate and contested the early pace from outside of VICTORY FOR VETS, pressed that rival through solid fractions nearing the quarter pole, vied between rivals into the stretch, was caught in tight between foes into the final sixteenth, steadied in deep stretch and was outfinished by the top pair, while holding clearly for third. TURN NORTH settled off of the early pace, saved ground into the turn and advanced nearing the quarter marker, maintained an inside path to the stretch and rallied to the furlong pole, angled out in the final sixteenth, was gaining in deep stretch but could not reel in the leaders in the final yards. TOO MUCH ACTION raced close up to the early pace while outside of rivals, tracked the solid pace three then four wide into the turn, chased to upper stretch, drifted out into the final furlong, could not sustain his run to the final sixteenth and flattened out. JOLLY SAMURAI was allowed to settle in the early stages, coaxed two wide to the quarter marker, swung three wide for the stretch drive, needed more in the final sixteenth and offered a mild late rally. TIGERS 'N BEARS lacked early speed, trailed to the turn and was never involved. THERE WAS A STEWARDS' INQUIRY INTO THE STRETCH RUN OF THIS RACE. IN ADDITION, THE JOCKEY OF GOLDEN GRIT LODGED AN OBJECTION AGAINST THE JOCKEY OF RAISE THE BAR, CLAIMING INTERFERENCE IN THE FINAL SIXTEENTH. THE STEWARDS RULED THERE WOULD BE NO CHANGE.
