Footnotes
GUN TWIRL broke well, went to the front racing about four paths off the inside rail, got away with a slow first fraction, then picked up some outside pressure from a pair of rivals going to the turn, kept those two at bay through the turn, responded when set down in upper stretch, then went clear late under steady handling and intermittent urging. LOTTERY TICKET settled early, then made a steady, sustained run from the turn to gain second while never a serious threat to the winner. VIGGIEDAL was the inside horse in the trailing group, made a forward move through the turn while saving ground, loomed a big threat into the stretch, but was outfinished and had to settle for the minor award. HALEAKALA rushed up after a bit of a slow start to press the pace fin the 5-path approaching the half-mile, pole, vied between horses through the turn, made a bid approaching the quarter pole but was unable to sustain a rally and finished evenly while outrun in the stretch. FLASH MASTER got in a bit tight just after the break, steadily advanced to press the pace in the six-path, came under pressure late on the turn and was unable to threaten. MY LUCKY BREAK was last early but not far from the front in the initial stages, then struggled to keep pace after passing the half-mile pole and was never a factor.
