AIR OF GHURAIR got shuffled back at the start, immediately went to the rail, settled in through the first turn, then gradually advanced in the run down the backstretch, launched a bid with three furlongs to run, took over the lead before the stretch, and just held on ahead of a fast closing rival on the outside near the finish. BIG BANG BOOM wsa two-deep and last into the first turn, settled at the back through the early stages, then produced a strong late bid to just miss. FIFTYSHADESOFNAUTI was forwardly placed from the start, dueled/vied for the lead early on, went on alone through the far turn, dug in under a threat from AIR OF GHURAIR, but could not kick on with that one, kept to task and saved third. TAKE THIS CITY pulled into a forward position early, settled in behind the leading pair to the far turn, made a move to go after the leader leaving the half-mile pole, came into the stretch with every chance but could not sustain the bid in the late stages under steady handling and urging. CRUZIN FOR GURLS got caught three-wide on the first turn, raced at the back of the field through the first half, then mildly improved in the stretch. FAIR WEATHER FLYER lagged in the back half of the field through the early stages, then lacked a finish. WITT'S R P M settled in mid-pack along the rail, moved out to the three-path down the backstretch, was asked to go on midway on the turn but did not respond. TEXAS BANDIT contested the early pace from between horses on the first turn, went clear of the rest inside of FIFTYSHADESOFNAUTI down the backstretch, then started to fade on the far turn and was not involved in the stretch. BOONE was hard to load, was being hustled from the gate at the start, shifted out abruptly near the end of the chute, and lost the rider; was caught post-race and walked off. THERE WAS A STEWARDS INQUIRY INTO THE ACTIONS OF #11 BOONE, AFTER THE START. NO ACTION WAS TAKEN FOLOWING A VIDEO REVIEW.
