Footnotes
CAFEZINHO broke outward at the start causing a chain reaction affecting three of the runners in adjacent stalls, then was encouraged to get forward position early, settled into a stalking position under a hard hold, then shifted out to the two path for the run down the backstretch, settled just behind the pacesetting TITUBA through the turn then mounted a challenge near the quarter pole, engaged in a spirited duel down the stretch, appeared to hang inside the furlong pole then edged clear late. ARINNITI (FR) had good speed from the break and had designs on the lead going into the first turn emerged onto the backstretch with a slight clear advantage, took the field to the far turn then was challenged by CAFEZINHO approaching the quarter pole, dueled that rival for the length of the stretch and was out finished in the final yards while clear of the third horse. CONTRABBANDA tracked in the middle of the main pack three wide through the early stages, responded when set down leaving the three furlong pole, ducked out under left handed urging mid-stretch then had trouble keeping a straight course in the late stages but managed to hold third. LEXINGTON DIVA was off poorly when several rivals converged after the break, tracked three wide down the backstretch, launched a mile rally with about three furlongs to run kept to task and had to dodge CONTRABANDA in the late stages and could not get by to claim a minor award. KEEP THE BLING devoid of early speed, trailed behind the rest to the far turn then lacked a rally. CACTUS BLOSSOM pinched at the start then made some light contact a few strides out and still managed to contest the early pace, tracked on the rail just behind the pace, content to remain there down the backstretch, weakened on the turn then hand nothing to give in the stretch. TITUBA lugged inward after the start and made some contact with foes before the turn, settled at the back of the pack three wide, was under a drive three furlongs out, then had little to offer in the stretch.
