CATHOLIC GUILT was hustled aggressively to get forward position, took the lead by the middle of the first turn and led the field into the backstretch with ABSOLUTE COURAGE in close pursuit, responded when asked to quicken leaving the three furlong marker, had trouble with the lead change at the top of the stretch but kept to task, drifted out late under left handed urging and just held. DEANOS CAPE tracked close up on the inside, was content with that position down the backstretch, loomed boldly near the quarter pole, the finished willingly under steady handling and just missed. SHAMAYIM lacked the speed to compete early but secured the rail when clear, advanced into contention on the far turn, finished up well under strong handling and urging, but was not good enough. SPECIAL MOMENT was mid-pack to the half, bid four wide into the stretch, finished well, gaining, not good enough. ABSOLUTE COURAGE showed good speed from the outside post, went a bit wide into the first turn then emerged in second, just behind the leader, stalked to the far turn, loomed a threat turning for home but lacked a winning kick. BARBACOA three wide through the first turn, continued at the rear of the main pack, launched a tepid bid from the five-sixteenths, quickly went flat in the stretch and was no threat. PLAYBOY STYLE roused from the start but unable to join the early pace mix, raced near the rear through the early stages, held position, then tried to rally but was unable to threaten. WIN WORTHY was very slow to begin and spotted the field several lengths head start, saved all the ground to the stretch, came off the rail after passing the sixteenths and oufinsihed a few stragglers in the stretch. COOL MEMORY was forwardly placed but four wide going into the first bend, remained wide down the backstretch, came under a drive with three furlongs to run but did not respond. KENTUCKY PEERLESS got caught five wide into the clubhouse turn, settled mid-pack down the backstretch and never mounted a threat. HELLO HELLO MISTER sent to get forward position from the break, settled mid-pack two off the rail, struggled to keep pace on the far turn and faded. THERE WAS A STEWARDS INQUIRY INTO THE STRETCH RUN NEAR THE FINISH. AFTER REVIEW THE STEWARDS DISQUALIFIED #3 CATHOLIC GUILT FOR INTEFERENCE AGAINST #2 DEANOS CAPE AND PLACED 2ND.
