COUNTY SLUGGER was not asked for speed after the break, went three-wide on the clubhouse turn racing near the back, advanced down the backstretch to be in mid-field heading into the turn, responded when set down approaching the quarter pole, had a little trouble with the lead change at the top of the stretch, got straight and produced a strong rally, took over the lead a furlong out and held off a determined rival in the final yards. KAUSE I'M DEVINE settled inside in mid-pack along through the early running, gradually advanced on the far turn, then found best stride in deep stretch, chased COUNTY SLUGGER to the finish line, and just missed. CAFEZINHO tracked three-wide to the far turn, launched a bid for the lead approaching the quarter pole, briefly got a head in front before the eighth pole, but was overtaken by the top two in the final furlong. TRUE BLUE SKY steadied slightly after the start, then allowed to settle, raced in the back half of the compact field in cover without a way out, finally got clear in the stretch and produced a mild late gain. COLORMECAIRO tracked just behind the pacesetter to the far turn, took over the lead late on the far turn but was immediately under pressure, yielded the lead with a furlong to go, and was outkicked to the wire. PAINTBRUSH brought up the rear through the first half, made a mild bid three-wide on the last turn, was mildly gaining, not doing enough to threaten late. FAYETTE BLUE away well, was forwardly placed early, raced in cover without a clear path from the half to the stretch, then was unable to quicken in the final furlong once clear. SAN MATEO KAT hopped at the star but was hustled away and was first into the clubhouse turn, led the way into the far turn, started to weaken near the quarter pole, and tired in the stretch.
