Footnotes
CINCO STEVE was five wide as part of the early pace battle, chased ROCKING ROCKET through the turn then bid for the lead at the top of the stretch got the best of that foe with a furlong to run the battled MY LITTLE PRINCE to the wire and prevailed. MY LITTLE PRINCE was two deep in the five way battle for the early lead, kept to the inside on the turn, rallied up the rail and just missed. CHAMPAGNE STOOPER was outrun early despite the best efforts of the rider, was making a bold late run from the back, split horses with contact just past the three-sixteenths pole then continued on to grab the third spot. PUDDING hustled to the front and was the inside horse in the five-way pace battle, steadied nearing the seven-sixteenth pole then dropped out, came back on cornered into the three path in the stretch and finished with good energy to improve. PERLIANO settled just behind the early pace battle then circled the field five to six wide, finished well down the stretch but was too late. ROCKING ROCKET vied four wide in the battle for the early lead, went ahead from the seven-sixteenth pole, led through the turn then weakened in the stretch. FORT HOOD was three deep in the early pace scramble, dropped out at the half mile pole and was kept to task to the finish. SIDETOWN raced four to five wide in the tracking group launched a bid from the three-eights pole, came five wide into the stretch and flattened out. PLAYING HARDBALL raced close to the pace on the inside then checked hard at the half mile marker, lost momentum, dropped back to last then struggled toe recover and trailed the rest of the trip. THERE WAS A STEWARDS INQUIRY INTO THE ACTIONS OF THE #2 PLAYING HARDBALL WHO STEADIED NEAR THE HALF-MILE POLE. AFTER REVIEW NO ACTION WAS TAKEN.
