Footnotes
RUNNING POINT roused from the break to get forward position, made the lead into the first turn, then widened the margin after passing the half, was first into the stretch with some distance back to the next horse, and held sway through the stretch to win clear while being taken in hand in the final yards. CRUZIN FOR GURLS lacked any early speed and was last into the first turn, stayed to the inside and steadily advanced to the half, was the only entrant to go after RUNNING POINT into the last turn, and kept up a futile chase through the lane while finishing a mile clear of the next horse. HECKAMIGHTY was four-wide and fighting the rider into the first turn, settled down on the backstretch run, was kept to task through the stretch and managed to win the battle for the minor award. TEXAS BANDIT raced well off the pace, was under steady urging early on the far turn, but faltered in the late stages and was caught late and missed hitting the board. HANK RIDGE raced three to four wide through the early stages, then lacked any semblance of a late bid. WITT'S R P M chased in second position to the half-mile pole, then stopped on the turn and was galloped out to the finish and walked off.
