AVERY PLACE settled off the pace in the run down the backstretch, advanced three-wide on the turn, bid four-wide under a drive into the stretch, and finished up strong under steady handling and urging and was up in the last jump. ZAMPINO dueled between horses early, then opened up to a clear lead on the turn, raced erratically on the wrong lead in upper stretch and was caught in the final yards. MUCAFAAH chased inside, was without a path late on the turn, but slipped through a bid opening at the three-sixteenths marker, then kept on to take down the minor award. PASSED OVER pressed the early pace three-wide came under a stiff ride midday through the turn, and was mildly gaining late. BORDERLAND was last down the backstretch, got over to the rail before the turn and improved late. SPECIAL DESTINY broke well, vied inside, could not go on with ZAMPINO from the three-furlong pole and had little to offer in the stretch. BALLISTIC BOB was briefly up on the early pace, steadily dropped back, raced three-wide and was outrun.
