MAXIMUS MAGIC was sent hard from the break, settled in a stalking position to the outside of SECRECY IS EVIL, was content with that position until the far turn, opened up when roused at the top of the stretch, and quickened clear of the rest in the stretch. UPTOWN TAPPIN tracked between horses in mid-field through the early running, bided time while stuck behind horses on the far turn, tipped out three-wide at the top of the stretch, split horses, and finished up well but could not get to the winner. CLOUDY PAST hustled up to ensure forward position into the first turn, settled behind the leading pair turning up the backstretch, angled out to the three-path, then put pressure on those two past the half-mile pole, was outkicked in the stretch but finished up well enough to get the third prize. HASKELLED settled in the middle of the pack, then launched a four-wide bid on the far turn, came five-wide into the stretch, finished with interest but lacked a late kick. RANGO lacked early speed and lagged at the back through the first half, angled out six-wide for the stretch run, and was mildly gaining. SECRECY IS EVIL had the best speed from the gate without really being pushed, was left to dictate moderate fractions to the half, then got some pressure from MAXIMUS MAGIC heading into the far turn, dueled to the stretch, then gave way. SINGING DIXIE lumbered away from the gate and was at the back going into the first turn, raced three-wide, started a bid on the far turn but could not sustain the effort, and was unable to keep up in the stretch. KING ADOLIS raced in mid-pack along the rail through the early stages, then dropped back to last on the far turn and was uninvolved in the later stages.
