Footnotes
MAJOR ORTIZ broke inward and mutally bumped with BAR HOPPIN BILLY at the start, recovered quickly, rushed up and made the lead while under pressure from JUST HANGIN RIDGE, left that rival behind at the quarter pole, picked up a new challenger in FANDO, but held clear of that rival under steady handling and intermittent urging while drifting out to the center of the track in the late stages. POLLITO TITO broke outward at the start, making contact with FANDO, tracked behind the pace, launched a bid late on the turn, found best stide in deep stretch, and got up into second. FANDO got pinballed at the start, then veered out into CAPOTE'S GLITTER a few strides later, was always close up but three to four wide, moved up to challenge for the lead entering the turn, ranged up three-wide at the quarter pole, made a run at MAJOR ORTIZ but could not get to that one, then weakened in the deep stretch and was passed for second. BAR HOPPIN BILLY broke out and bumped with MAJOR ORTIZ, was very slow into stride, advanced inside up the backstretch, but lacked a clear path on the turn, came out five or six-wide into the stretch, altered course near the furlong marker, and just missed hitting the board. CAPOTE'S GLITTER got squeezed between rivals shortly after the start, took up and altered course to the outside, raced in the back half of the field and was under some coaxing to keep pace, advanced through the turn under a drive, became boxed in late on the turn, then finished with some late interest but was not doing enough in the late stages to pose a threat. HE'S CHARMING raced off the pace on the outside, continued around the bend, came seven-wide into the stretch, and rallied past tired foes. KEEPMOVINGFORWARD tracked four-wide in the second flight, then weakened late on the turn and had nothing to offer in the stretch. MORO LEGEND chased up the rail from mid-pack, was within range leaving the half-mile pole, kept on into the stretch, then had to steady at the eighth pole and lost any chance. CAUSE IM THE KING lacked any early speed from the start, was far behind early, saved ground, but was never a factor. JUST HANGIN RIDGE broke well, was up on the early pace, weakened near the quarter pole, and faded in the stretch.
