SAN MATEO KAT tracked the leading pair from a few lengths back, produced a steady rally from the quarter pole, gradually closed the margin to the leader through the stretch and was along in time. MORNING MIRACLE dueled inside of READY right from the start, shook off that foe in upper stretch, went clear by mid-stretch but just failed to last. READY dueled outside of MORNING MIRACLE from the outset, then gave way in upper stretch but held third well clear of the next finisher. MIDNIGHT LADY settled three-wide with the tracking group far off the pace, kept on with a grinding finish through the stretch to improve but still finished well behind the top three. PAINTBRUSH settled near the back, came four-wide into the stretch, and passed tired rivals late. T R'S FIRST allowed to settle after the break, got over the rail in the run down the backstretch, started to fade after passing the half-mile pole, and was unable to threaten in the stretch. MISSINGYOUCRAZY tracked near the back with the trailing group and lacked a rally. AFFAIR threw the head and bucked leaving the gate, was pulled out of the race, and walked off. THERE WAS A STEWARDS INQUIRY INTO THE START. NO ACTION WAS TAKEN.
