SWEET RETREAT settled along the rail in the middle of the strung-out field for the first half, navigated through the far turn to bid four-wide at the top of the stretch, and outkicked the rest to win clear in the end. RENTON was kept to the back and got over to the rail, angled out to the three-path on the far turn, then swung five-wide into the stretch, rallied mildly to get the place but could not threaten the winner. SHANGHAI CUPID settled in the back half of the field early, had a lot of ground to make up turning for home, but found best stride in the late stages and moved up to gain third. FOLLOW THE STAR tracked ZORRITOS DASH in second position from the outset, gave a good try in the stretch, finished willingly, but was outkicked. ZORRITOS DASH made the early lead as the field lined up single-file behind, kept the rest at bay through the far turn, came into the stretch with a narrow advantage, had something left when called upon in the stretch, but was outfinished. BALLISTIC BOB settled in the middle of the pack then could not find the needed late kick in the stretch.
