DOWN THE ISLANDS raced close up in third position to the far turn, split horses at the quarter pole to take the lead into the stretch, went clear and just held off a strong challenge to the outside at the wire. HEDGE THE RISK was inside at the back through the first half, navigated a steady advance late on the backstretch run and through the far turn, closed stoutly in the closing stages, and just missed. ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN raced in mid-pack two-deep through the early stages, moved up with range of the leaders approaching the top of the stretch, bid four-wide, finished well but came up short. SUPERSECRETWEAPON settled in mid-pack and three-wide early, finished with some late interest, but was not doing enough late to pose a threat. DROBNY showed good speed from the start, settled in a stalking position to the outside of BRILLIANT SPIN, then was unable to quicken with the rest of the field past the quarter pole, and was outfinished in the stretch. BRILLIANT SPIN under urging early to get to the lead, led the parade down the backstretch, then gave way late on the far turn. FRANCHUCHIE saved ground to no avail near the back and did not offer a late bid. MOON FACTOR was not asked for speed from the start, settled three-wide at the back of the field, then lacked a rally. FLYING TEX went four-wide through the clubhouse turn, tracked in the back half of the field early on, then did not respond when asked to quicken on the far turn.
