Footnotes
MACHO GRANDE settled well off the early pace, moved up late on the backstretch run with the dueling leaders in range, bid wide for the lead from the five-sixteenths marker, engaged in a spirited stretch duel with BROCK ON BY and prevailed in a tight photo. BROCK ON BY broke sharply from the outside and got a share of the early lead to the outside of MO SATURDAYS, went clear of the rest heading down the backstretch, finished willingly under a stiff drive, but lost the bob at the wire. BARBACOA was pushed on from the start to get forward position, settled at the front of the tracking group, responded when asked to quicken near the half-mile pole, got within range of the lead approaching the stretch, chased the top pair to the wire, and had to settle for third. TWELVE VOLT took back to last after the start, bided time to the half, made a mild bid to advance through the far turn, was mildly gaining, and passed tired foes. ELLS tracked inside well off the pace with the second group, tried to rally but could only go one-paced through the late stages, and did not threaten. MO SATURDAYS was sent hard from the start to get to the lead, pulled clear of the rest with BRONX ON BY keeping pace to the outside, came under a drive approaching the quarter pole, and tired in the stretch. NAUTICAL MOON raced three-wide near the back and had nothing to offer after passing the half-mile pole.
