DERBY DATE raced between rivals in the tracking group up the backstretch, bid two-wide late on the turn to press for the lead near the quarter pole, dueled outside of DONEGAL FREEDOM through the stretch, and edged ahead inside the sixteenth marker. DONEGAL FREEDOM went clear early and let the field to the turn, shook off all but DERBY DATE leaving the quarter pole, dueled that rival to deep stretch, and yielded late while finishing well clear of the next horse. PINKY RING BLING raced three-wide between rivals in the tracking group, emerged from the pack approaching the stretch, and chased the top two to the wire. SEND OFF devoid of early speed, was far back early, put in a late run, but was too late to pose a threat. WORTH LOOKING tracked four-wide up close, then was outfinished in the stretch. BIG WAVE JAMES was the inside horse in the second flight, dropped out early on the turn, and was in chase mode from that point. CAWKAB raced five-wide, came into the stretch on the left lead, and did not rally.
