HONEY PROOF mutually bumped with the outside rival at the start, was hard held on the pace two-wide, down the backstretch, made a bid for the lead approaching the quarter pole, battled for the lead from upper stretch, lugged in under right-handed urging, and just held off a late bid from WMA GRAND FINAL at the finish. WMA GRAND FINALE raced in cover down the backstretch, then was boxed in through the turn, angled out to the three path in upper stretch, steadied inside the furlong pole, then surged late to just miss. QUICK RAE AA settled along the rail just behind the pacesetters, was under a strong hold, got off the rail in upper stretch, tried to split horses late, and was put in tight on the rail by HONEY PROOF, and came up short. BASEQANATOR made the lead and attempted to slow the pace under a stiff hold, had HONEY PROOF on the outside pressing the issue but also under a tight hold, battled back when confronted by that rival at the quarter pole, took up sharply just inside the sixteenth pole and lost all chance. LIKE MOULIN ROUGE settled three-wide at the back early on but never from the front, made an early move going into the turn, but flattened out in upper stretch and was unable to threaten.THERE WAS A STEWARDS INQUIRY INTO THE STRETCH RUN. ALSO THE JOCKEY ON #7 WMA GRAND FINAL LODGED AN OBJECTION AGAINST #6 HONEY PROOF ALLEGING INTERFERENCE IN DEEP STRETCH. AFTER A REVIEW, THE OBJECTION WAS UPHELD, AND #6 HONEY PROOF WAS DISQUALIFIED AND PLACED 4TH.
