Footnotes
CHAPMAN'S PEAK set the pace inside of a pressing rival, vied with that one around the far turn, repelled that challenger in midstretch and drove clear. WARLANDER pressed two wide, vied around the far turn and through upper stretch, but was turned away at the furlong grounds and saved place from an outer bidder at the wire. JOHNY'S RENDEZVOUS got rank among foes moving through the lane for the first time, settled off of the pace in the two path, then between horses into and around the far turn, shifted out to the five path in upper stretch and rallied to miss reeling in place at the wire. LONGBRANCH LOU settled off of the pace along the inside, swung out to the seven path to be between horses entering the lane, ran on to claim fourth in the final furlong and held that position from his outer counterpart. FORT THOMAS lacked speed two wide, pursued in the three to four path around the far turn before fanning out to the eight path into the lane, then ran on but was denied fourth. WAKAN bobbled and bumped an inner rival at the start, pursued from midpack three to four wide, was bumped by an inner rival while ranging closer to the leaders turning for home, but flattened out entering the lane and yielded between horses. DOMINGO tracked two wide and between horses, bumped an outer rival to progress three wide turning for home, chased into the lane and gave way. WRITE OFF JERRY broke a step slow and shied from an outer foe at the start, laid off of the pace three deep, then in the five to six path around the far turn and failed to menace. FAYETTE SPIRIT steadied among rivals nearing the wire for the first time, tracked from midpack along the inside, chased in the four path into midstretch and lacked a bid between horses. WISH CAREFULLY laid close up along the inside, steadied moving through the lane for the first time, settled into stalking stride into the first turn, chased into upper stretch and faded. VALENTINIAN saved ground at the rear and never got involved. BLUE COAST was bumped by an outer foe at the start, stalked from the four to three path, then wilted between horses rounding the far turn and was eased.
