Footnotes
SUL JOURNALIST sped clear and showed the way up the backstretch, patiently handled around the turn, give her cue at the top of the stretch, drifted out in the final furlong, grew weary late while coming under fire from SHINOVAR but was able to hold on. SHINOVAR stalked the pacesetter outside PEEPS PRIDE, traveled in the three path around the bend, chased determinedly through the lane, put in a late bid but got denied. PEEPS PRIDE prominent early while fighting the rider then settled in a stalking position off the rail, took aim in the two path around the bend, finished willingly down the lane but lacked the needed late kick. ARANSAS PASS traveled off the pace, navigated the turn two wide, finished well in the furlong grounds but got going too late. PRETTY DANG FAST trailed outside rivals or off the rail in the early going, rounded the bend in the three path and could not make an impact. DREAMING OF JUNE traveled in the second flight inside a pair of rivals, saved ground through the turn and was never a factor.
