Footnotes
QUATERNION settled well off the early pace inside, continued unhurried the middle half mile, began to advance midway on the final turn, came in the two path for the drive, switched out to be widest, set down and accelerated, collared the two leaders with less than a furlong remaining and continued well to the wire to win going away. BLUE CHAIR BAY forwardly placed past the wire the first time inside, steered out to be three wide late in the first turn, pursued in the run up the backstretch, closed the gap on the pacesetter late in the final turn challenged on the outside into the lane. PINEHURST (IRE) settled off the early leader, chased that one the middle half from the two path, challenged while between foes into the lane, showed the way past the furlong marker proved no match for the winner the final sixteenth, outkicked in the waning strides for the second spot. NORTH OF BALI lacked speed in the two path, continued mid pack while just off the rail second turn, dropped to the inside for the drive and rallied mildly to improve a bit. PURE MALICE off the pace while along the inside, continued one paced while saving ground through most of the second turn, evenly through the lane in failing to muster a closing response. CAUSE IM THE KING fell well back after the start, lacked speed, never menaced. READY SHOES broke a step slow and was also never a factor. GARNET JUBILEE broke alertly, quickly sprinted well clear, set a blistering set of early fractions, slowed late final turn, gave way when confronted in upper stretch.
