CLEARLY COLOSSAL got squeezed at the start and was off a step slowly, settled to the first turn then caught a bit in tight between runners along that bend, shifted out into the backstretch and tracked the pace four to five wide nearing the half-mile marker, roused to the far turn, bid three wide to upper stretch, responded in the lane and closed determinedly to the final sixteenth, wore down MIDNIGHT HALO in deep stretch and got up in the final strides to prevail. MIDNIGHT HALO forwardly placed while four wide to the first turn, prompted the moderate pace along the backstretch then confronted CALI DREAMIN to the far turn, dueled outside of that foe to upper stretch, shook free at the furlong grounds then met the late bid of CLEARLY COLOSSAL to the final sixteenth, fought gamely to deep stretch and was bested for the win in the final yards, while well clear of the rest for second. CALI DREAMIN set the early pace three wide and between runners, carved out a moderate pace to the half-mile marker, met the bid of MIDNIGHT HALO into the far turn, dueled that one to upper stretch, yielded to the top pair into the final final sixteenth and was a clear third. LEWIS MEMORIAL saved ground and failed to threaten. GOBOT off slow and settled to the backstretch, coaxed three wide to the quarter marker, did not factor in the stretch drive. FAST VERDICT close up to the early pace, stalked from the two path along the backstretch, dropped back into the second turn then came up empty in the drive.
