Footnotes
FIT TO FLY away well, vied inside in a four-way early pace battle, backed off going into the turn while holding the inside path, responded when set down in the stretch, came back on to battle a stubborn rival to the wire, but prevailed in the final yards. STAYED IN FOR HALF showed good speed and put a head in front early, vied inside through the turn while being confidently handled, responded when asked to go on at the head of the stretch, opened up, dug in when challenged, but was unable to hold the winner in the final yards. DON'TASK DON'TTELL lacked any early speed despite coaxing from the rider, moved up into contention heading into the turn, waited for room at the top of he stretch, and ran on well to gain third. ONLY A DREAM pressed the early pace three-wide, bid between horses at the quarter pole, but was unable to keep pace in the late stages. SIGN OF WAR tracked in the middle of the pack but wide, moved up to challenge late on the turn, but was outfinished in the late stages. CHIEF BRADY settled mid-pack early, lost some ground on the turn, came five-wide into the stretch, and tried to rally but could not make up much ground. HARRY'S ONTHEFLY did not show any early speed despite being scrubbed on by the rider, continued to chase under a drive through the turn, tipped out five-wide in upper stretch, but could not produce the needed response. CLASSY SOCKS pressed the pace four wide, was still in contention at the top of the stretch but tired.
