Footnotes
SPECIAL MOMENT was the outside of five horses contesting the early lead, then quickened away after passing the three-furlong pole, went clear late on the turn with only one rival posing any danger, then went unchallenged, widening the margin to the wire. B MINOR showed good speed from the start, was the inside horse in the early speed battle, then pulled away when SPECIAL MOMENT quickened away late on the turn, was unable to go with that one, but chased valiantly down the stretch and finished a mile clear of the next horse. STANS HOME RUN tracked just behind the early speed, then won the battle for the third spot well behind the top pair. JACKS SPRING BREAK vied three-deep in the early pace battle, did not go on when the pace quickened past the five-sixteenths marker, kept to task but could not make up any ground in the late stages. TAPPIN FORA DANCE setted inside mid-pack and finished evenly. DRIED PEPPER broke well, settled mid-pack about three wide down the backstretch, lacked a late kick, and finished evenly. BATTLE SCARS took up short after the break, made a mild middle move, but could not sustain the bid through the stretch. SLIM JIMMY away well, contested the early pace two-deep, dropped off near the three-furlong pole and was not a factor in the later stages. IMA BIG BOPPER trailed early three-wide and lacked a late bid. LUCKY PROMISE raced near the rear down the backstretch, dropped to last on the turn, and trailed the field to the wire, not being persevered with when hopelessly beaten.
